Powerful writer about often untidy conflicts within family and relations. I also would like to read the historical novel "paris" by Edward Rutherford this summer. I think I could actually "feel", physically, the atmosphere of the time. She is such a good writer. This summer I also have read Boleto by Alyson Hagy, Lady Almina and the Real Downton Abbey by the Countess of Carnavon and the third book of the Old Filth trilogy, Last Friends by Jane Gardam. Am I only drawn to female writers? I was at the Queen's Gallery a couple of weeks ago and saw Holbein's little sketch of Anne looking quite frumpy in her nightcap - I'd love to have been a fly on the wall while he was doing it!maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13955194101659665925noreply@blogger.com
